Chris Cooney


Chris Cooney, the former Chief Executive Officer and Co-Chairman of First Look Studios, is recognized as a skilled motion picture and television production executive. Extensive facility management, international distribution, media integration, branded content and online distribution experience provide him with one of the industry’s most comprehensive profiles.

Mr. Cooney is also Chief Operating Officer and co-principal to the leading New York-based studio and production facility EUE/Screen Gems, Ltd. Since 1986 when he joined EUE/Screen Gems, Ltd. as Head of Production, Mr. Cooney has served in a number of key positions. In 1988 he was named Vice President-in-Charge of all facilities. From 1992 to 1996, he served as Vice President of Physical Production. After facilitating thousands of hours of programming for such memorable shows as Guiding Light, Search For Tomorrow and Edge of Night, the complex now facilitates King World Productions acclaimed The Rachael Ray Show.

In 1996, Mr. Cooney led EUE/Screen Gems in the acquisition of DeLaurentis Carolco Studios in Wilmington, NC. The facility is the largest full service feature film and television production complex east of Hollywood. Mr. Cooney has overseen all commercial and television production for the studio since its acquisition. Among their credits are such notable films as: Sleeping With The Enemy, Hudsucker Proxy and The Jackal, and such long-running hit TV series as One Tree Hill and Dawson’s Creek.

In 2001, Mr. Cooney created an investment vehicle to purchase a content company, which could augment its expanding asset base. The Company was First Look Studios where Mr. Cooney served as CEO for five years.

Chris, along with his brother Jeffrey, are executive producing the upcoming biopic on Albert Einstein with OddLot Entertainment.

Mr. Cooney received his B.A. from Boston University in 1983.
