Tax Incentives

Because of the Georgia Entertainment Industry Investment Act, your next production could earn up to 30% in tax credits if you produce it in the state of Georgia. Here’s how you do it: Georgia offers a 20% tax incentive for productions made in their state. Production must spend a minimum of $500,000 in the state and many different types of productions qualify such as, feature films, television series, music videos, commercials, video game projects, animation, musical scoring and more. There are no limits or caps on what you can spend.

Your production could earn another 10% tax credit if the Georgia promotional logo appears in the finished feature film, television series, music video or video game project.

You could also qualify for sales tax exemptions while you film in Georgia. If your production qualifies, this is an 8% sales tax exemption for most purchases and rentals in the state.

In order to file for tax credits and tax exemptions for your production, you’ll need several things:

-Film Tax Credit Form (IT-FC)

-Notice of Tax Credit Transfer (IT-TRANS)

-Georgia Department of Revenue Rules and Regulations

-Application for Certificate of Exemption (ST-PE1)

-Claim for Refund (ST-12)
-Waiver of Vendor’s Rights for Refund (ST-12A)
